Stephanie Adams joined the Horseracing Integrity & Welfare Unit (HIWU) in December 2024 as the quality support manager. Prior to HIWU, Adams spent more than 30 years with the Indiana Horse Racing Commission (IHRC) at Horseshoe Indianapolis Racecourse.

In her role at HIWU, Adams oversees projects to identify policy, training, and feedback needs in compliance with the Horseracing Integrity and Safety Authority’s Anti-Doping and Medication Control Program. She also manages the HIWU Support Line, which provides on-call support to sample collection personnel.  

As the test barn administrator for the IHRC, Adams implemented HIWU regulations at the Horseshoe Indianapolis test barn. She has also held roles at Eli Lilly and Company, Covance, and LabCorp where she was responsible for the organization of general toxicology and developmental and reproductive toxicology necropsy in North America. She developed cardiovascular telemetry surgical models in accordance with FDA and ICH guidelines for pharmaceutical approvals.

Adams received a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from the University of Phoenix as well as an Associate Degree of Applied Science in veterinary nursing from Purdue University.
