Team member: Kate Mittelstadt
Prior to joining HIWU, Mittelstadt served as the director of the IRONMAN Anti-Doping Program. IRONMAN was the first private, non-federation sports company to formally adhere to the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Code, and under her leadership created a WADA Code-compliant program that serves to protect the integrity of events and the health of athletes through the IRONMAN Anti-Doping Rules and I AM TRUE education and outreach initiatives.
Mittelstadt’s anti-doping career began with the inception of the United States Anti-Doping Agency in 2000, including six years as its director of doping control. She has been involved in global anti-doping initiatives in a variety of capacities, including as the director of doping control for the Association of National Anti-Doping Organizations, manager of out-of-competition testing at the 2002 Winter Olympic Games, a member of WADA’s Athlete Outreach teams, and a member and chair of WADA’s Independent Observer teams. Mittelstadt has also served as a member of various working groups for WADA as well as national and international federations.
