Ed Arriola

HIWU Investigator

Ed Arriola joined the Horseracing Integrity & Welfare Unit (HIWU) in April 2023. He is responsible for managing the recruitment and training of HIWU’s team of independent investigative contractors located across the country as well as assisting in investigations.

Arriola brings nearly two decades of experience as the director of public safety and security at Arlington International Racecourse and more than five years as a member of the Breeders’ Cup Equine Security Team.

While at Arlington, Arriola directed safety and security operations for the track and 10 satellite business locations throughout the state, which included leading investigations for on-site civil and criminal matters. Arriola also pursued leads and complaints regarding potential criminal activities; conducted surveillance and searches; and prepared evidence for litigation, deposition, and hearings. He established safety policies to protect public visitors to the facilities under his supervision.

Arriola has been a member of the Organization of Racing Investigators since 2016.
